Top down view of swimming pool

[15th Dec] In my last post, I was just about poised to go to the gym pool and packed my swim rio. While driving up to the gym we made a faux pas as the gym is situated beside a highway. Instead of following up the road and heading back after a roundabout, we headed off the exit as we passed it. This lead to a wide dusty parking lot and we pulled up right beside the overpass and trekked over what was more than a 100 meters. Only to be met by utter confusion as to where the gym is located on the other side.

After a bit of adventuring, eventually went down another winding walk way down the hot sun, where we eventually were headed towards the reception. It took a bit of back and forth with sign ups and other details during which we had to walk over to the lounge area to fill out some paper work. In that time I somewhat wanted to head back on over to ask if thong swimsuits would be acceptable but didn’t quite get the chance and hesitated.

Finally after the paperwork and payment, it was time to hit the gym which was located up a wide spiral staircase. The gym was fairly big and the trainer on hand greeted us and ran us through the facilities.

I hit the gym and went through a full body workout to make up for the lost two weeks. In between the sessions, I managed to head down back to the reception and this time managed to ask what I wanted to. I added in “swim briefs and thongs” just to pad out the question a bit and for whatever reason not fully focus on thongs. The man at the reception didn’t seem to understand or was maybe unsure so he asked to ask the lifeguard.

So off I went. It took some doing as there was a wide set of halls, rooms and then a gangway to the outside pool area. Directly out front was a large Olympic sized swimming pool and to the right was a warm up pool which looked smaller. There were two men on hand who seemed to be lifeguards.

I slightly hesitated and went to them and don’t recall the exact question, but roughly around the same thing at reception – are thong swimsuits OK – or something to that affect. Don’t recall if I said swim briefs or not and didn’t even try to describe how the suits would be. But they seemed fairly open but again unsure and mentioned that it should be fine and to try it on and see when coming out.

Are swim briefs and thong swimsuits OK?

With that I headed back up to the gym, finished off my full body workout and then bid adieu to my bro-in-law and went to the pool. I only had my swim rio brief packed but it was the smallest one so wore that and came out. Just went past the lifeguards and into the pool, and got oriented and went a few lapses but it was exhausting.

After a bit of that a bit of friendly banter with my lane mate, I got up and out and went back to the changing room, showered, dried off got into my clothes and was ready to get back home.

So not entirely the breakthrough I was expecting but did manage to directly ask what I wanted to. The other part of people I know seeing what I wore didn’t happen but oh well, that wasn’t top priority.
